About the Role The preparation for and celebration of the sacraments are key elements in the Religious Education Curriculum of a Catholic school.
The full delivery of this significant component of the curriculum requires substantial coordination between the individual schools set within the boundaries of a parish.
The role of the Sacramental Preparation Officer is to directly support the Religious Education Coordinator to deliver the Sacramental Programs within large and complex parish structures.
The role of this position is to attend to the administration and coordination of the schools sacramental program, namely: First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation.
The Sacramental Preparation Officer is responsible for the timely organisation of the sacrament program and is to be pastorally sensitive to the needs of those families involved in the program.
The Sacramental Preparation Officer will work closely with the Parish Team, the three Principals, the three Religious Education Coordinators and the Schools of Religion.
The prime responsibilities for the Sacramental Preparation Officer is to liaise with the Parish Priest and the Parish Team on behalf of the Religious Education Coordinators regarding the preparation and celebration of the Sacraments for the first time.
Due regard shall be given to the Principals and the RECs especially in areas of pastoral concern for families involved in the programs.
It is the responsibility of the Sacramental Preparation Officer to maintain a high level of communication between parish and schools which engage them.
Benefits and Opportunities A positive and collaborative workplace culture  Extensive training in our high-quality professional learning program, Catalyst  Access to curriculum resources that support evidence-based, high-impact teaching practice  24 weeks of paid parental leave (maternity/adoption)  Up to 14 weeks of paid parental leave (paternity/non-initial primary carer leave)  Key Responsibilities Administer the Sacramental Programs within the three Catholic schools: Coordinate sacramental enrolment: liaise with Parish Team, RECs (GS, HS, MT, PSoR) enlist practical help of volunteers; prepare all enrolment material; advertise in school, parish, web newsletters – as well as at all local public schools; and - Send enrolment information to all Catholic families in Yr 4, Yr 5 & Yr 6.
Liaise with parents and attend to day-to-day sacramental queries.
Issues of a pastoral nature are to be discussed, as appropriate, with Priests or school staff.
Provide RECs, Classroom Teachers, Priests, Principals, and with up-to- date enrolment data.
Order Sacramental Materials i.e.
Medals, Certificates etc.
Organise stoles for each sacrament.
Prepare Certificates.
Maintain Sacrament data base.
Meet with Parish Team, RECs, SOR Co-ordinator and relevant classroom teachers prior to the preparation of each sacrament and after the celebration of each sacrament for a review.
Organise and attend the week 6 Parish and Schools meeting.
Organise the allocations of preferences or timetable dates for all sacramental celebrations.
Qualifications Possess a current Working with Vulnerable People (ACT) card Certificate IV in Business Administration Selection Criteria Possess a strong desire to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Sacramental life.
Demonstrated experience in displaying a high level of attention to detail.
Highly driven to work both collaboratively in teams and individually.
Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to manage data records.
