Reference Number: 1599 Closing Date: 25-04-2024 Employment Type: Permanent Full Time Location: Regional About the Role Based at any of our major regional centres around the Western Downs (Dalby/Chinchilla/Miles/Tara or Wandoan), you will deliver effective rural services to the community, including plant and animal pest control management, the maintenance of stock routes and the control of wandering stock. Reporting to the Rural Services Supervisor, you will: maintain an effective system of Stock Routes throughout the region and arrange maintenance when required; respond to straying stock and taking necessary action; conduct coordinated Wild Dog Baiting Programs; conduct inspections for pests and noxious weeds throughout the region; and maintain a high level of liaison with landholders and the community, providing advice in relation to animal and noxious weeds. About you The successful applicant will be a practical and solutions-focused individual with the following: well-developed oral and written communication skills to facilitate effective communication and education of stakeholders and landholders; a certification to use Fluoroacetic acid (1080) for baiting purposes (or willingness to obtain); a licence in Agricultural Chemical Distribution and Control, and a licence to use firearms in Queensland (or willingness to obtain); a Power of Entry certificate (or willingness to obtain); and a current 'C' class Queensland Drivers Licence. Where a candidate does not possess all of the requirements, the applicant needs to be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience and be willing to complete relevant certificates within an agreed timeframe.
