The Role Regional Victoria is a diverse and interesting patch with farmers and producers of wool, wheat, camel milk, micro greens and apples from the Macedon Ranges all the way up to Echuca on the mighty Murray River.
We want you to own it and provide authoritative coverage of the business and politics of Australian farming, livestock, forestry, agriculture and primary production.
ABC Regional Victoria is looking for a motivated, multi-skilled Rural Reporter.
Reporting to the Local Editor the role will include: Creating engaging rural and primary industry news and features across multiple platforms for a diverse local and national audience.
Preparing digital stories for ABC online, preparing and presenting radio reports for the Rural Report and Country Hour, plus other key programs including ABC's 7pm bulletin and News Channel.
Contributing new ideas to increase audience reach and engagement.
Position Description: 50035752 REPORTER, RURAL_ REGIONAL VICTORIA.pdf About You We are looking for a dynamic Rural Reporter with experience creating content for radio, TV and online.
You are creative, highly organised and able to find great rural stories from our community to share for radio, digital, TV and social media and will love coming to work and connecting with our diverse audience across the region.
You will have strong news writing skills and not afraid to ask questions, explore the region, look for stories where others haven't, jump in the work car and drive, and work with a team on site and the broader Rural Reporter team in various locations as well as reporting to and working with a dynamic, strong Country Hour Executive Producer who loves seeing her team win.
You must be able to thrive on quick turn arounds as well as have a good laugh at the end of the day when everything is done and dusted.
You will be able to demonstrate that you have: Accomplished editorial skills across multiple platforms, particularly digital reporting.
A strong understanding of the issues facing the agricultural and primary industries and how they affect the community.
A creative approach to story construction and delivery.
Experience in live presentation and broadcast.
A passion and curiosity to source and create authentic stories which represent the broad diversity of the Australian community.
The ability to travel to remote locations when required.
