Contract Full Time (4 Years) Monday to Friday, Supportive Work/Life Balance Attractive salary package of circa $185,000 per annum (including superannuation and vehicle) Location – Gracemere Your new role Are you an Engineer who likes leading teams, getting out "on the ground" and getting stuff done?
Do you have experience (or want to get it) in a rural operating environment?
Do want to influence the delivery of works across the entire region?
If so, you could be the right person to lead our Rural Operations delivery unit.
In this role you'll lead more than 35 staff to deliver Construction and Maintenance programs over more than 18,000 km2 of the Rockhampton region.
These works will focus on the rural roads and drainage network and draw heavily on a pragmatic approach to forward planning and high-quality consistent execution.
You will take these projects from scoping, all the way through to delivery and acquittal.
From cradle to grave, you'll be there, at the helm.
You'll be well supported to lead and challenge your teams to build on existing strong practices to find progressive improvements in how we do things.
Reporting directly to the Manager Civil Operations, this role will have direct supervision and accountability of the rural based teams delivering the works programs and be a part of the broader leadership team.
As a member of the Civil Operations leadership team, you'll bring a strong voice to the table when determining how the overall Civil Operations department conducts all aspects of its business across the entire region.

As this role includes technical oversight of all the works done by the teams, you'll need to be a Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ), or the ability to obtain with appropriate skills and experience.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising an internal day labour workforce in delivery of various work programs. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage, inspire, lead and mentor staff to achieve positive business outcomes with a One Team approach. Demonstrated ability develop collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at all levels to drive continuous improvements and performance. Highly experienced strategic and pragmatic thinker with demonstrated project management skills and forward planning practices. Have knowledge of relevant Legislation and Regulations, technical guidelines, and industry standards. Degree qualification in Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering – Civil). Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or ability to obtain. Queensland DTMR Traffic Management Design Qualified or ability to obtain. Proven ability in hands on project management, planning and execution. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships and deliver excellent customer service. Bachelor qualification in Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering – Civil), registered as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or ability to obtain and be qualified for Queensland DTMR Traffic Management Design (or ability to obtain).
