Rural Health Tasmania is looking for an Innovative , passionate , and proven leader to join us in our Manager role at Number 34 Aboriginal Health Service based in beautiful Ulverstone, on the North West coast of Tasmania.
About Number 34 Aboriginal Health Service No.34 Aboriginal Health Service (No.34 AHS) is one of the many services offered by RHT. No.34 AHS provides a range of culturally safe holistic health services and programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people located predominantly in the North-West of Tasmania. These include:
Eye & Ear Surgical Support Program Chronic Disease Care Coordination Social Emotional Wellbeing Groups for Men and Women Mothers and Babies Programs and Support Youth Groups and Mental Health Counselling Purpose of the Position The Manager - Aboriginal Health Services provides leadership and coordinates a team to deliver primary health care programs and services effectively and professionally. The program focuses on supporting clients to access services in line with their identified health care needs.

Key Responsibilities Manage a diverse range of Aboriginal Health Programs and support staff. Program management, delivery, and evaluation. Demonstrated knowledge and/or understanding of current Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health issues, particularly within the Tasmanian context and key issues within the broader health care system. Proficient knowledge in the causes and symptoms of Aboriginal health issues including prevention strategies, needs and risk assessment, substance abuse, family dynamics, and the impact of trauma. Understanding of crisis management and the ability to deal with life-threatening situations, including the prevention of suicide. Case management and confidential record-keeping practices. Individual, group, and crisis counselling methods. All relevant legislation, policies, and practices. Demonstrate good decision-making in dealing with safety issues and with aggressive and/or intoxicated clients, if required. Mediation and negotiation skills. Conflict resolution skills. Effective verbal and listening communication skills. The position is subject to a satisfactory national police check and Working With Vulnerable People check, both required PRIOR to commencement of the role.
