We are on the hunt for a UXO Technician (UXOT) to join our team on a casual basis to support the delivery of projects in the region. This position is required to support the Explosives Engineering Services (EES) Business Unit in the AAP Region. The Explosives Engineering Services are a fast-growing team that work globally to give advice and consultancy to clients on Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) risk on sites. As a globally based UXO Specialist Consultancy, Tetra Tech RPS Energy holds several accreditations and panel memberships specifically for Unexploded Ordnance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
This role's primary responsibility is to support in the delivery of UXO and Explosive Ordnance Material (EOM) identification and remediation projects and to assist in mitigating risk caused by UXO and Explosive Ordnance Material (EOM) both on and off the Defence Estate, using a strong awareness of health and safety and risk management. In support of delivering projects, the UXO Technician is responsible, but limited to, the following:
Supporting the team as project issues arise during project execution; Conducting activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards; Additional duties as required. Qualifications required:
A UXO Technician must be a graduate of a Military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) School or an equivalent course from a suitable training organisation, where the qualifying course will have consisted of 200 hours or greater of instruction resulting in:
A military qualification of Explosive Ordnance Disposal; Knowledge of UXO identification, handling and remediation methods is essential and must have experience in logistics; 2 years logged experience in all aspects of munitions response actions and/or range clearance activities, as appropriate for the contracted operation since qualifying as a UXOFA. The role in the field may vary according to your qualifications and experience and the project requirements at the time. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable, at a minimum, of the following: Desktop UXO Study, Field Validation Survey, UXO Avoidance, UXO Safety Support and UXO Remediations. Other desirable traits include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ability to work under pressure – deals effectively with jobs that come in with a quick turnaround/timeframe; Must be able to demonstrate the UXO/EOM Qualifications, Experience and Capability Requirements as set out in Chapter 8 of the Defence UXO Management Manual (Sept 2020); Have experience in undertaking UXO/EOM remediation activities; Be able to demonstrate, with supporting documentation, that they are competent in performing the role of a UXO Field Assistant; Candidate must have excellent judgment, communication skills, and the ability to remember complex safety guidelines; Candidate must have the ability to work in an efficient and disciplined manner, within predefined time constraints, to achieve multiple simultaneous deadlines; Candidate must have the ability to work outdoors in variable terrain and conditions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
