These combined streams aim to embed a trauma-informed approach throughout the continuum of care which includes at each consumer's entry to our services, at assessment, treatment and during hospital stays. This is in line with the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health and part of our implementation of the requirements presented in the Victorian Mental Health and Wellbeing Act, 2022.
Services include:
Consultation Liaison: CL Psychiatry, CL Addiction and State-wide Gambling (in the first phase). Emergency Outreach: Emergency Psychiatry, Triage, CATT/PACER, HOPE Adult IPU: First Floor and Ground Floor The Role These newly funded positions are based at the Alfred Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit. The HDU Lead is responsible for providing clinical leadership to staff members across the HDU (GF/FF) in accordance with the recently reviewed IPU Pathways Document and HDU Guidelines. They will work collaboratively with the ANUM in LDU who is responsible for the overall governance and overseeing the care and safety of the ward.
The HDU Lead will conduct this role across morning and afternoon shifts but, in addition, will be required to work night shifts and act as ANUM as required. Shifts working on LDU will also be accommodated to ensure wellbeing.
We are seeking person-centred mental health nurses with a comprehensive knowledge of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act and other relevant legislation, along with well-developed interpersonal skills to effectively partner with patients in their recovery. The position requires post-registration experience and the necessary training and experience to enable working in an acute inpatient unit. Relevant knowledge and demonstrated skills in risk assessment, mental state assessment, recovery care planning and knowledge of acute mental health nursing care and practice is essential to undertake this role.
Qualifications and Experience: Current unrestricted registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board via AHPRA as a Division 1 Registered Nurse Bachelor's degree in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent or bachelor's degree in nursing Postgraduate qualifications in mental health nursing or working towards this At least two years post-qualifying experience working in a mental health setting, preferably an acute environment Attended or planned attendance at HDU Advanced Practice Workshop (internal applicants) Benefits Salary Packaging & Novated Leasing through Maxxia.
