Description The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) offers a Dental Service through the Mobile Dental Unit (MDU) to assist rural and remote Queenslanders with access to dental care. The MDU, which has two state-of-the-art dental surgeries, serves upwards of 70 patients per week and offers a range of services, from preventive care to extraction and houses an onboard orthopantomogram or OPG unit. The MDU aims to address the immediate need for dental care in communities within QLD and improve overall health by providing a regular ongoing service.
The Role As an experienced clinician in rural dentistry, your role will involve providing clinical dental care to patients. This includes conducting clinical examinations, diagnosing dental issues, creating treatment plans, administering treatments, providing oral health education, maintaining comprehensive clinical records, and offering post-treatment support to patients. The MDU supports communities with the help of a team of two highly qualified dentists and three dedicated dental assistants. Each rotation, this team travels to different locations to provide their expert services and make a positive impact on the oral health of local residents. Your rotations could see you support communities from Cherbourg up to Collinsville and across to Camooweal and many other beautiful places in between.

Registration with AHPRA, as a Dentist Competency in independent patient care Up-to-date knowledge of best practices within a dental clinic Current Queensland Health Radiography Licence (extra-oral- desirable & intra-oral) Experience in a rural and remote practice Ability to handle challenging operational situations in a calm and rational manner Proven clinical skills in managing a broad range of oral health issues Experience in using a clinical patient record system (RFDS uses Titanium) Evidence of annual certification in Basic Life Support (or willing to obtain before commencement) and a Current First Aid Certificate (AED) Why join the RFDS and the MDU?
