Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is a central part of the Top End Health Service (TEHS) and is a dynamic and rewarding place to work.The maternity service has a large catchment area across the Northern Territory providing tertiary level care and supporting rural birthing units in Gove and Katherine as well as midwives, nurses and GP's throughout the Northern Territories remote communities.The O&G department has both a strong focus on generalist O&G training as well as dedicated clinics for maternal fetal medicine presentations, gynaecology oncology, vulval disorders, urodynamics/pelvic floor surgery, pregnancy choices and a hospital supported homebirth program.As a senior registrar you will have the opportunity to enhance your clinical skills with a wide variety of operative gynaecology and high-risk obstetrics, but the learning goes beyond the delivery room or operating theatre.Outreach clinics will see you delivering care including colposcopy, ultrasound and simple procedures in remote communities through which you will gain a greater understanding of the challenges of delivering safe and culturally appropriate women's health care in the Top End.You will be working with clinicians who are passionate about delivering comprehensive care to First Nations women, are engaged in public health and are advocates for women's rights.We have affiliations with Charles Darwin University and the Menzies research institute which provide opportunities for building on your teaching and research experience and relationships with pacific island countries for those interested in Global Health.You will be able to participate in the weekly education programs, quality and safety activities and act as mentor to the junior registrars and DRANZCOG trainees.We create a supportive environment for you to advance both your clinical and professional development in readiness for your transition to a consultant.Darwin has an engaging social scene and welcoming community with local doctors participating in sports, performing arts, Yolngu language classes and much, much more!Application process: If you are ready for a new experience or wanting to return to RDH once again and would like to talk about our 2025 job opportunities please feel free to contact Dr Romany Erwin ****** Key duties and responsibilities 1.Provide inpatient and outpatient care to patients across antenatal, postnatal, gynaecology services including labour ward and reproductive health services 2.Provide perioperative care, operative services and post-operative follow up for specialist gynaecological patients 3.Participate in afterhours cover including rostered night shifts, weekends shifts and sick on call roster and outreach service 4.Where deemed appropriate and credentialed to participate in on call consultant cover with second on call arrangement 5.Supervise, support and evaluate the work of junior staff in the provision of inpatient care and medical student education 6.Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.7.Participate in management and leadership roles which may include, rostering, supporting junior staff wellbeing and chairing registrar meetings 8.Participate in continuous medical education, professional development, peer review, research, teaching, quality improvement activities and clinical audits as appropriate.9.Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken, in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.Selection criteria Essential 1.Eligible for general registration with the Medical Board of Australia; 2.Completed basic RANZCOG training and now eligible to complete advanced RANZCOG training years 5 and or 6 Desirable 1.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact positively as a team member in a cross-cultural work environment.2.A demonstrated interest in and commitment to improving First Nations Health and Rural Health.3.Evidence of commitment to continuing education, teaching, research and quality assurance activities.Applications Due: COB May 27th 2024 Online application portal using erecruit will open two weeks prior Jobs - Search (nt.gov.au) Please send EOI to ****** with CV, cover letter and contact details for three referees Successful applicants will be notified for interviews by 3rd June
