About the RoleThis is a Fixed Term Position until 31st December 2025. In this role, you will undertake a variety of road maintenance and civil construction activities including network inspections and hazard and defect rectification works and perform manual labour-intensive tasks in accordance with established safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
After hours Emergency response capabilities and overtime are requirements of this role, and opportunities may be available to travel within the state to assist with broader Emergency responses.
While this role is primarily based in the Grampians Region at Wendouree Depot, you may be occasionally required to work from other locations across the state of Victoria based on the operational needs of the broader SRS business.
The standard hours for this position are 7.30am to 4.00pm.
There may occasionally be a requirement to work overtime outside these hours, work away from home for periods of time, and attend after hours call outs as required.
Accountabilities You will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following duties:
Perform a variety of road, roadside, and bridge maintenance activities under general supervision, ensuring that quality, environmental, and safety practices are observed and adhered to at all times.Operate a variety of plant safely and in accordance with established policies and procedures.Install signs and traffic control devices in accordance with traffic management plans, under general supervision.Construct and maintain other road and roadside furniture, and other minor civil works and safety improvements in accordance with best practices and procedures.Respond to emergencies under general supervision.Exercise judgement in effectively scheduling and prioritising own work activities to achieve required outcomes.Work effectively within a team and ask others for assistance as required.Effectively present information in a clear and logical manner using terminology appropriate for the audience.Key Selection Criteria We are seeking a dedicated Road Worker to join our Maintenance Delivery team within the Department of Transport and Planning.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the upkeep and safety of our road networks through effective inspection, maintenance, and project execution.
As a Road Worker, you will carry out tasks such as road, roadside, and structures inspections, routine maintenance activities, and the safe operation of minor plant equipment.
You will work in alignment with Traffic Management Plans, established policies, and safety procedures, demonstrating the ability to prioritize and adapt when plans are undefined.
This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, leveraging established guidelines and collaborating with supervisors to identify effective solutions.
Your ability to contribute innovative ideas and maintain high standards under time pressure will enhance the overall effectiveness of our operations.
