IAA, Australia is searching for a Head of Operations to lead a high-performing Ops team to work out of our Auction site/s in either Yatala, QLD or Geelong, VIC .
We are also open to candidates from Sydney, NSW .
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of branch managers across Australia and New Zealand, fostering a high-performance culture focused on safety, operational efficiency, and achieving KPIs.
Oversee daily operations across all APAC sites, ensuring optimal asset processing, compliance with safety standards, and adherence to operational protocols.
Develop, track, and monitor KPIs related to asset processing times, safety performance, and customer satisfaction to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Build and nurture strong relationships with internal teams, transport providers, senior insurance representatives, and key salvage industry stakeholders.
Uphold IAA's commitment to exceptional client experiences by ensuring assets are processed efficiently and customer service standards are consistently exceeded.
Implement catastrophe management protocols to handle sudden spikes in volume effectively, ensuring seamless processing and remarketing of assets during high-demand periods.
Ensure all sites comply with safety regulations and risk management protocols to maintain a secure working environment and adhere to internal, legal and industry requirements.
Provide regular, detailed reports on operational performance, KPI metrics, and market trends to support strategic decision-making and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Align operational strategies with organizational goals and industry best practices to ensure IAA remains competitive and responsive to evolving market demands.
Here's what you bring:
Minimum of 10+ years managing operations across multiple sites or leading a field operations team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Proven ability to develop, lead, and implement operational initiatives and business plans to align with evolving organizational goals and market demands.
Strong understanding of business theory, operational processes, financial management, and budgeting principles to drive informed decision-making and operational efficiency.
Demonstrated success in leading, managing, and coaching diverse teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
A high level of customer service orientation, with a proven ability to build and maintain authentic, long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Experience working effectively in a team-oriented, cross-functional, and collaborative environment to achieve shared goals.
Proven track record of prioritizing and executing tasks effectively under high-pressure conditions, including resolving escalations or unexpected challenges.
Familiarity with workplace safety standards, risk management protocols, and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence across operations.
Experience in applying continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Ability to analyze operational metrics, KPIs, and market trends to inform strategies and achieve performance goals.
Familiarity with operations management software, Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and digital tools to support streamlined processes and effective communication.
Experience in the insurance, automotive, salvage or auction industry (or similar sectors) is highly desirable to ensure a deep understanding of operational nuances and customer needs.
