Job Description About the Role
Gaining excellent exposure to the operations of our business and external stakeholders, we have a rewarding role for an experienced Risk and Compliance Senior Officer to join our Corporate Services team on a temporary basis (circa 10 months) to cover a period of maternity leave.
Working with the Group Risk and Compliance Manager, this role will support the implementation of a robust risk and compliance program, providing business-focused, strategic and operational advice and services that align with organisational objectives.
This role will assist in the development and delivery of a risk and compliance program, which includes:
Risk and controls identification and assessments
Compliance with key legislations, regulations and standards, including Modern Slavery Act Reporting
Internal audits
Reporting to Management and the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee
No one day will be the same, but some of the accountabilities that you can expect to keep you busy are:
Maintain the risk and compliance frameworks, ensuring they are aligned with best practice
Maintain knowledge of the political, cultural and economic environment the organisation operates in with regard to identifying current and looming risks
Provide strategic business partnership and guidance to the business that operates within the Board's risk appetite
Facilitate and review risk and controls assessments, including for operational and investment risks
Monitor, comply and report on key legislative, regulatory or standards changes affecting the organisation
Monitor and report on compliance with key policies and procedures to achieve identified risk management objectives and recommend improvements where necessary
Monitor and maintain the modern slavery risk management framework, including preparing the Modern Slavery Statement
Provide training to staff to identify, assess and manage risks to the industry and to MLA
Deliver the annual Internal Audit Plan (international offices' business reviews)
Track internal audit findings, investigations and remediation actions for reporting to the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee
Our ideal Risk and Compliance Senior Officer has:
Formal risk and compliance education and training
Minimum 6 years working experience in Risk, Compliance and/or Internal Audit in a corporate environment
Demonstrated work experience in undertaking a range of risk and compliance activities such as risk management, internal audit, process review, internal control systems and processes
Demonstrated experience of operating in a business partner model, working with leaders to drive business results and applies a pragmatic approach
Demonstrated knowledge of current internal audit, risk and compliance issues and trends
Demonstrated experience in delivering continuous improvement of reporting, processes, procedures and systems
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to influence and develop relationships with key stakeholders
Ability to work in a team environment and manage deadlines
