Melbourne Girls Grammar (MGGS) is seeking a proactive and dedicated Risk and Compliance Officer to support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the School's Risk Management and Policy Framework.
This role will work closely with the Risk and Compliance Manager, Chief Operations Officer, and other key teams to ensure the effective delivery of the School's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) program, as well as its broad range of risk and compliance obligations.
In this full-time role, you will play a vital part in promoting and maintaining a shared culture of risk management through hazard identification, Compliance and OHS training and awareness across the School.
You will support staff at all levels through open communication, promotion and high-level administration of the School's ERM – Ideagen/CompliSpace by engaging staff to effectively use the system, undertake training and build awareness to create a safe working environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Your responsibilities will include liaising with staff to identify and address improvement opportunities, providing advice and ensuring the completion of agreed actions through ongoing monitoring and follow-up.
The Risk and Compliance Officer will provide critical administrative, co-ordination and support to the Risk and Compliance Manager.
This key role will lead in the preparation and collation of reports for the OHS Committee, Principal, Executive Team, Audit, Risk Management Committee, and School Council.
In addition, provide advice and support to the broader staffing cohort on matters regarding risk management, compliance and occupational health and safety.
They will take a practical and hands-on continuous improvement approach to building, promoting and maintaining a culture of health, safety and compliance at MGGS.
They will stay up-to-date with legal and regulatory changes that affect the education sector and ensure that policies and procedures are reviewed, updated, and carried out to meet the School's wide-ranging compliance obligations.
Key responsibilities will include: Administering the School's risk and compliance software Ideagen/CompliSpace, including any other future software programs that will support the growth of the organisation.Maintain high visibility within the School community and act as the first point of contact for day-to-day OHS queries, concerns and ideas.Support the Risk and Compliance Manager in leading a whole-school culture of OHS, risk awareness and compliance.Managing and responding to all safety incident reports and assisting the Risk and Compliance Manager to ensure that all improvement opportunities to mitigate safety hazards are promptly reviewed, assigned and implemented.Regularly walk through all campuses and facilities with relevant teams to assess and monitor the safety and compliance of the School's physical environment and ensure that safety actions are followed up with relevant teams and department leaders.Co-ordinating and tracking Return To Work processes and Workers Compensation Claims, with support from Human Resources.Conducting and reviewing risk assessments and ensuring safe work practices are developed and adhered to.Liaising with stakeholder groups, particularly Facilities, HR, and the Artemis Centre, to ensure risk, compliance and safety requirements and obligations are met to a high standard of excellence.Providing input on risk, compliance and OHS issues, including prompt reporting when required and active contribution to OHS Committee meetings.Key Selection Criteria include but are not limited to: Have previously worked in a school environment.Previous experience using Ideagen/CompliSpace or similar and/or willing to learn.Excellent data entry and systems administration skills and interest in utilising digital solutions to enhance risk, safety and compliance efficiency and effectiveness.Experience with OHS and risk management and its practical application in the workplace.Experience responding to safety incidents, investigations and follow-up.Experience with walkarounds and inspections to proactively identify and assess risks and/or be willing to learn.Return to Work coordination experience is desirable, but not essential.High-level literacy and numeracy skills, including the ability to interpret data and produce reports that are visually appealing, easy to read and understand, and effective in achieving their intended purposes.The ideal candidate will have a high level of initiative with the ability to contribute positively in a values-based environment.
Relevant qualification in Risk and/or Compliance or Occupational Health & Safety is highly regarded.
Relevant work experience in a similar or related role including demonstrated ability to deliver on objectives is highly desirable.
Earlier career candidates with relevant experience, qualifications, knowledge of the OHS legislation and a strong willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
