Risk Advisory Manager - Regulatory & ComplianceAbout the role – Permanent, full-time based in Brisbane, Toowoomba or Adelaide We are uplifting our risk maturity and risk culture in the Regulatory & Compliance division at People First Bank. Reporting to the Chief Regulatory and Compliance Officer, your primary function will be to provide first line risk advisory and controls monitoring services to senior management and their staff within this division.
The Regulatory & Compliance Division supports People First Bank to maintain our members' trust by meeting its regulatory compliance obligations. The Regulatory & Compliance Division includes the Compliance & Assurance, Compliance Integration, Transformation & Regulatory Affairs, and AML teams.
You will implement and maintain operational risk frameworks, standards and processes across the Regulatory & Compliance division, and work closely with the second line Enterprise Risk function and the other first line Risk Advisors across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities: Demonstrates compliance with policies and procedures to effectively operate within People First Bank's risk appetite. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to their role by keeping up to date with communications and assigned learning.Execute all elements of the Operational Risk Management framework across the Regulatory & Compliance Division including incident and issue management, risk and control self-assessments, controls testing, root cause analysis, and audit finding initiatives to resolution within prescribed timelines.Work in consultation with second and third lines of defence (Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit).Ensure all practices comply with regulatory obligations and are aligned with the People First Bank's internal policy and procedure.Implement learnings from risk management and remediation activities to develop business and people capability in the Division in terms of risk and compliance education and assurance.About you: We are seeking a professional with significant experience in a risk or governance role, ideally within the financial services sector, who has a strong knowledge of best-practice tools and techniques for effective analysis and root cause identification. You will be someone who confidently interacts with and influences stakeholders, helping to foster a positive risk culture while knowing when to constructively challenge. You will also have fluent written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create and present detailed Risk reports.
You must also be able to demonstrate the following:
Minimum 5 years of experience in Risk Management.Strong working experience within a Fraud and/or AML/CTF Operations environment.Proven financial services industry experience in an equivalent role for a medium to large organisation.Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to contribute to the development of operational policies, procedures and guidelines.Why you'll love working with us: People First Bank – our new brand – says exactly what we're all about: people.
