The Company An excellent opportunity has arisen with one of Australia's leading agribusinesses to join their leading national merchandising team as a senior Merchant with oversight for a key portfolio. Working within an experienced team that has a wide portfolio of assets within the Australian market, this is an excellent time to make a career-defining change.
The Position We are looking to speak with candidates who have a passion for working in the Australian commodities markets, including oilseeds, grain, meat, protein meals and co-products and are looking to be seen as an industry leader by partnering with a key player in the market.
You will be responsible for purchasing raw materials and various commodities with a focus on quality and reliability of suppliers, and effectively manage any risk elements to position the business to achieve its commercial objectives. You will optimise raw material procurement and identify potential areas to maximise margin and profit for the business. You will also work across internal areas of focus, including supply chain, market changes in nutrient solutions and logistic providers to ensure the business continues to be at the forefront of the industry.
The Person The ideal candidate will have the necessary tertiary qualifications within an agribusiness or economics discipline, with at least 5+ years in a role that has given you exposure to a domestic commodities trading market, be that in trading, logistics or a supply chain capacity. You will have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrated relevant Microsoft Excel skills. A sound knowledge of the Australian agribusiness market, international trade and raw materials will be required, as well as a passion for the industry.
