With full industry support help transform the Australian rice industry Leeton The Company Rice Breeding Australia Ltd (RBA) is a not-for-profit company established to transform rice breeding in Australia. The key purpose of RBA is to provide new energy and commercial focus to rice breeding so that it can be a key part of driving a major transformation in water productivity and ultimately long-term viability of the Australian rice industry. The members of the company are AgriFutures Australia, SunRice and Rice Growers Association.
The Position An excellent opportunity has now become available for a self-motivated and results driven individual to join the team as a Graduate reporting directly to the Rice Breeder. This graduate role will provide technical assistance to support the Rice Breeder and broader rice breeding team in the area of variety development and is responsible for assisting in conducting field, glasshouse and controlled environment activities including but not limited to:
Assisting in organising, managing and completing field, glasshouse and controlled environment activities Data collection, sampling and recording and ensuring the integrity of the data Assist in the development, implementation and management of protocols for trials/ experiments Work in partnership with the rice breeder and colleagues to prioritise, determine and perform day to day tasks Undertaking frequent field and glasshouse work in varying conditions Assist in maintaining accurate databases Training provided The Person We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following background, skills and key attributes:
Degree in Agricultural Science or equivalent related discipline Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role Current Australian Driver's license Ability to travel to remote locations regionally and nationally. Experience in crop research/production is desirable Ability to operate plant and equipment To succeed within this role, you will be a self-starter and able to work in a fast-paced environment (often in differing weather conditions e.g. hot, dusty, cold, windy) while being able to demonstrate your good problem solving and communication skills.
