Duties and responsibilities Technical expertise Preparing VCAT applications for review and appeals to the Supreme Court. Experience in the conduct of hearings in the Planning & Environment Division of VCAT, Planning Panels and Supreme Court. Attending to procedural requirements of VCAT, Planning Panels Victoria and the Supreme Court. Briefing Counsel and expert witnesses. Drafting advice and memoranda, planning agreements and other planning documents. Providing clients with commercial and strategic options or alternatives in relation to all aspects of law relating to planning and environmental law. Client management Exceeds client expectations in a timely, dependable, and consistent manner. Shares knowledge and experience with colleagues and cross sells external referrers. Commercial acumen with demonstrated understanding of legal budget processes and is committed to exceed billable targets. Demonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of business development within law firms and the ability to expand client networks and referral partners. Personal leadership Attention to detail, good time management and organisational skills. Conscientious and results driven. Communicates effectively with colleagues, offering insights while being receptive to others' ideas. Show flexibility and adaptability, willing to support various team needs. Builds positive relationships within the team and across the firm. Is accountable and proactive and has insight into own leadership style. Demonstrates strategic thinking and commercial awareness. Qualifications Must have a minimum of 3 years' PAE in a recognised planning and environment practice. VCAT and/or Planning Panels Victoria advocacy would be an advantage. Bachelor of Laws/Juris Doctor. Victorian Legal Practising Certificate. Candidates with litigation experience in other divisions of VCAT that demonstrate an interest in planning and environment law may be considered.
