The role
Our client is currently seeking a Rig Mechanic to join their project team based out of Karratha, WA. In this role, you will be responsible for executing preventative and corrective maintenance, while communicating regularly with the other departments (engine room, electrical, electronic, subsea, drilling, marine, and safety) where required. The Mechanic is responsible for ensuring accurate data entry into the Computer Maintenance Management System.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Acts as a safety leader ensuring the ongoing identification of hazards and controls to manage the associated risks with a special focus on Permit to Work and Isolation procedures.
Performs daily checks on the condition of areas and equipment (i.e. knuckle boom cranes, mud pumps, draw works, top drive, mud treatment and all drilling related equipment and systems under his/her responsibility).
Informs Mechanical Supervisor (as applicable) and/or maintenance lead of any technical problems or limitations that might affect the safe operation of the vessel.
Plans and executes preventive maintenance with a minimum of six week overview to cover current hitch and half of back-to-back hitch; maintain an updated and accurate historical record of all maintenance done as well as all equipment certification documents.
Ensures that maintenance is planned, organized, supervised and executed in accordance with well programs, company requirements and contractual obligations.
Prioritizes maintenance tasks For rigs with Performance Standards.
Prioritizes maintenance tasks assigned with Assurance Activities required by Performance Standards.
Maintains an understanding of the relationship between the rigs safety case, identified Major Accident Hazards, the bow tie assessment, Performance Standard (PS) documents.
Maintains a minimum amount of spares onboard for critical/safety/maintenance/operational systems.
Maintains workshop equipment and tools to the highest safety standards.
Supports members of the crew in the operation and maintenance practices of equipment.
Clearly and accurately communicates work status at end of shift and end of hitch hand overs.
Qualifications / Experience
Relevant qualification and or industry experience.
Minimum three to five years of offshore experience in the position of Rig Mechanic.
Experienced and trained on hydraulic systems troubleshooting and maintenance.
Completion of all mandatory training and certification requirements for Mechanic as described in the training matrix.
