H&P Australia is seeking a Rig Manager for our Beetaloo Basin (0852) drilling project. The primary duties will include but are not limited to the following: Build and shape H&P culture through effective leadership and development of our people (including Foreign Assignees and Local Hires) Ensure the safe operation of the facility, including the work site, equipment and personnel that come directly under their control and complies with federal, state and territory health, safety and environmental legislation Direct and supervise work of area personnel; determine work priorities and schedule work assignments; interview and recommend candidates; evaluate, orient, counsel, and train subordinate personnel; recommend associated personnel action Define project objectives; develop operating plan including manpower requirements in compliance with senior management decisions Analyze and oversee drilling operations including safety and recommend changes in procedures to meet goals and objectives Identify, develop, and recommend revision of standards, operating procedures, and new programs to reduce operating cost and improve efficiency; provides team with clear and concise written and verbal guidelines Investigate incidents, accidents and injuries and submits reports Plan and direct team to erect, dismantle, and move drilling rigs Plan delivery of drilling tools, fuel, water, and other supplies for use at drill site Inspect rig and submit rig condition reports; monitor the conditions of drilling rigs and equipment to ensure preventive maintenance procedures are followed Evaluate well bore to determine result of drilling Serve as a liaison with leased oil site operating personnel Provide regular updates and prepare reports for managerial review concerning drilling progress, operational problems, and equipment requirements Operate rig and systems from control panel to maximize drilling and tripping efficiency; supervise operations on the rig floor Monitor and ensure proper well control practices are followed as per H&P operating procedure Monitor the performance of the mud pumps and perform exchange of expendable items as required, as well as general maintenance of pumps Properly lock out and tag equipment on mud system during repairs and other activities that require isolation of equipment Oversee condition and basic analysis of drilling fluid in active and reserve mud system of rig as per the direction of customer and customer supplies service companies Monitor pit (mud tank) fluid level, transfer fluids in and out of rig mud system, maintain the condition of the solids control equipment and high and low pressure piping, arrange valves of all tanks and associated pumping equipment, and monitor the flow output from well bore to mud system Ensure compliance with H&P policies and make recommendations to coordinate with local requirements Ensure individual and team required trainings in Workday Learning are completed in a timely manner Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrate core values and safety standards according to the H&P way Commitment to H&P's Health, Safety, and Environmental standards and CARE processes (COACH people-based safety, Compass Cards, Life Belts, JSAs, hot-work, confined space entry, lock-out/tag-out, dropped object prevention, etc.) with a proven track record Ability to communicate with partner/customers to effectively handle concerns, performance reviews and to ensure customer satisfaction in general Ability to use critical thinking skills to effectively leverage all resources, both people and equipment Flexible and adaptable, able to overcome new challenges and opportunities Proven leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to effectively work across diverse cultural environments and accepting of cultural norms Proficient in PC and software such as E. A. M., H&P applications and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Teams) Australia-specific Considerations: Serve as a liaison with local, territory, state and federal statutory authorities Ensure the employee relations environment facilitates an uninterrupted supply of labor and fulfills management practices to ensure compliance with relevant legislation Willingness to learn and understand the application of relevant Australian legislation as it pertains to Drilling, HSE obligations and expectations, financial reporting and audit, Immigration, Import / Export / logistics, Employee Relations Ability to effectively work in indigenous environments Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required 5 years' experience as Rig Manager (or combined with another drilling leadership role) Minimum of 2 years Flex Rig and Flex Rig technology experience Working 21 x 21 Including Daily 15 minute PT Safety Meetings, 12 hour work days, and (2) 1 hour Rig Manager Safety Trainings per hitch Ability to pass Australian required drilling and HSE certification for Rig Managers Internal certifications required for all H&P Rig Managers Change Champions Graduate preferred COACH/CARE training completion preferred Salary Range: $182,500 - $200,750.00 AUD Thank you for your interest in joining our team! #J-18808-Ljbffr
