Reporting to the Site Manager, this position is responsible for the production of high quality, cost effective extruded and pressed feeds according to business plans, industry standards and legislative requirements at the Narangba site.
Key responsibilities for this position
The key to success in this role is to be adaptable, tenacious and willing to work as an effective leader, and be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
'Safety First' focus with experience developing and enforcing safe systems of work.
Provide leadership, mentoring and coaching to the production team ensuring that employees are adequately trained and signed off as competent in their roles.
Plan and deliver effective resources to achieve site goals including HSE compliance, quality assurance production targets, budget control and labour resources.
Implement programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness and conduct inspections to ensure the correct standard is maintained.
Monitor operation of plant equipment and systems to ensure production targets are met including the accurate recording of downtime, throughput and yield.
Prepare reports, analyse data, promote problem-solving and make recommendations for improving plant operations actively promoting and supporting continuous improvement.
Assist with weekly production planning including raw material requirements, staff resources and setting production targets.
Ensure costs are aligned to site budget.
The key skills and attributes required for this position include:
Minimum 5 years' experience in a food or stockfeed manufacturing industry with exposure to plant management and process automation.
Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles and proven experience in planning and delivering a Continuous Improvement plan, including a proactive preventative maintenance program.
Demonstrated experience managing, leading and developing employees in a production environment.
Demonstrated experience with production planning, control and measurement methodologies.
Understanding of HSE, QA and other statutory management standards and requirements.
Sound understanding of mechanical equipment.
Efficient and well-planned approach to problem-solving.
High level of computer skills.
Understanding of FMCG manufacturing (desirable).
Understanding of MRP2 and ERP systems (desirable).
Qualifications in Engineering, Science or Food Technology (desirable).
Experience in FMCG manufacturing (desirable).
