About this Opportunity
RFDS SA/NT retrieval doctors support remote South Australia & Northern Territory by providing remote emergency advice, clinical coordination of primary retrievals & aeromedical emergency care from our Port Augusta base. You may be based/living in Adelaide maintaining your skills in emergency medicine or anaesthesia, with a passion for supporting regional communities part-time by driving to Port Augusta once every 4-8 weeks for a 4–7-day rotation as part of a team of highly skilled doctors and flight nurses. You will have a passion for responsive, timely emergency care for our most isolated communities.
About You
To be successful in this role you will be a doctor with experience in emergency, ICU & anaesthesia. You will have:
Unrestricted Medical Practitioner registration with AHPRA
Fellowship with ACEM, ANZCA or RACGP/ACRRM with JCCA or GEMS certification
Minimum three years' experience in Emergency medicine and/or Anaesthesia
Minimum 6 months training in a critical care environment
Experience in procedural skills, resuscitation and paediatrics
A good understanding of and appreciation for primary healthcare, allied healthcare and your nursing colleagues
Experience supervising and mentoring consultants, registrars and medical students
Highly developed leadership, management and communication skills
Ideally, you will also have experience in remote area medicine, along with a well-developed understanding of rural and remote Australia and the challenges of providing first-class healthcare within these environments.
