The Role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Finished Artist/Creative Artworker specialising in retail catalogues to join our dynamic creative team. Your role will involve formatting, developing, and crafting visually engaging retail catalogues across both print and digital formats. You will work closely with our creative lead to ensure that layouts and designs not only align with brand guidelines but also resonate with and captivate the target audience.
Your responsibilities
Catalogue Design & Layout: Create compelling and visually appealing catalogue layouts that effectively display product, descriptions, pricing and content. Maintain brand consistency across all layouts, ensuring the visual narrative aligns with the retailer's identity.
Promotional digital assets: Assist in creating assets for social media and other digital channels.
Final Art Preparation: Finalise all design files for print and digital output, ensuring accurate colour management, correct file formats, bleed setups and adherence to printer specifications.
File Management: Organise and manage files and assets meticulously, ensuring version control. Follow archiving procedure within a Data Asset Management system, ensuring easy retrieval for future use.
Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality checks on all catalogue pages, ensuring accuracy of product details, pricing, and alignment of visual assets with the design brief.
Version Control & Proofing: Manage multiple versions of catalogues across different formats (print, digital), ensuring accuracy of product information and pricing through rigorous proofing.
Collaboration: Work closely with other designers to ensure the finished catalogue is consistent with other assets, brand standards and timelines.
Digital Outputs: Optimise catalogue files for digital formats such as PDF and web, ensuring the correct resolution and compatibility for digital distribution.
Compliance: Ensure all catalogues comply with brand guidelines, legal requirements and industry standards.
Skills & Qualifications
Education: Diploma or Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience as a finished artist, preferably within the catalogue and retail advertising space.
Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Strong understanding of pre-press and production processes, as well as digital publishing. Familiarity with After Effects to complete basic animations advantageous. As well as experience with catalogue building software a bonus.
Creative Skills: Strong sense of visual aesthetics, excellent layout and typography skills and an eye for detail.
Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail with a focus on precision and accuracy, particularly in ensuring that all design elements are flawless in the final output.
Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to print and digital formats efficiently.
Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage tight deadlines.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with retail catalogues, magazines, product catalogues, brochures or other retail-focused print and digital materials.
Knowledge of printing processes and print production techniques.
Knowledge of digital publishing tools and processes for optimising catalogues for web and mobile formats.
