Sharp Airlines is a dynamic regional airline operating from South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania with RPT, Charter and FIFO contracts. We currently operate a fleet of eighteen SA227 Metro aircraft.
Sharp Airlines is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to join our team at Launceston Airport. General Manager Engineering is responsible for overseeing all activities related to maintenance, repair, and alteration of aircraft, components, and related parts in accordance with CASA regulations. 
This position requires strong leadership skills, regulatory compliance knowledge, and effective communication skills to ensure that the part 145 organisation operates efficiently and meets all regulatory requirements. The GME is the Responsible Manager and is directly responsible to the Part 145 Accountable Manager for managing the operations under their control.

Main duties and responsibilities:
• Ensuring conformance with company policy and compliance to all applicable regulations as defined in the CASRs and MOS.
• Responsible for ensuring that all maintenance required to be carried out, plus any defect rectification, is carried out to the design and quality standards specified in the Part 145 MOS and to the requirements of Part 42 of the CASR.
• Responsibility for compliance to the AMOs Exposition.
• Make recommendations to the GMSQA for the issue of Company Authorisations to certifying employees.
• Development and management of financial performance of the engineering department, ensuring that key performance areas are managed within defined budgets.
• Develop and implement commercial initiatives to support business growth strategies in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner.
• Ensuring systems for Quality, Workplace Health and Safety and Environment management are operating effectively and meeting set objectives.
• Performing formal risk analysis and providing information to the Accountable Manager to ensure appropriate decisions are made.
• Undertaking recruitment, training, and development to ensure the business is appropriately resourced.
• Establishing and maintaining communications with subordinate staff and the Regulator.
• Leading by example and providing direction, support, and guidance to subordinate personnel.
• Appraisal and development of subordinate personnel.
• Approval of personnel for purchasing, quoting, acceptance of work and the approval of supplier invoices within approved limits.
• Supply of Aeronautical Product, tooling, and equipment for safe, efficient, and effective work in compliance with the approved standards.
• Ensuring prompt actions are taken regarding corrective and preventive actions arising from internal and external audits.
• Reporting monthly to the Accountable Manager on performance of the activities under their control so that effective Management Review is achieved.
• Reporting of non-airworthy aircraft condition to the Accountable Manager; and
• Providing coordination between the AMO and Sharp Airlines CAMO to achieve optimum operational efficiencies and sharing of best practices.
Experience and attributes: 
• Advanced Diploma of Aviation Maintenance Management (Avionics or Mechanical) or selected units of competency from that qualification, or
• Have previously held a similar position in a 145 AMO or CAR 30 organisation (or an approval by another NAA), or
• Hold an appropriate Part 66 Licence as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, or a related allied trade qualification and the following experience:
a) At least 5 years' experience in matters for which they are responsible; or
b) At least 2 years' experience in matters for which they are responsible, provided they have
c) At least an additional 3 years' experience in civil aircraft maintenance.
• Has a comprehensive knowledge of the regulations, standards and the AMO Exposition document for which they are responsible; and
• Understands and applies the application of human factors and human performance issues as appropriate to their role in the AMO.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
• Eligible for AUS wide ASIC 
• Be eligible to apply and must obtain CASA Form 004 approval as responsible manager for the part 145 organisation.
Be eligible to apply and obtain CASA Form 004 approval as an Accountable Manager for the part 145 organisation. (Alternate position). SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Overseeing a team of approximately 12 Engineers, some of the relevant responsibilities include (but are not limited to): interviewing, employing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining direct employees; addressing complaints; and problem resolution.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE
Fairchild Metroliner SA227 experience/knowledge/licence.
MEETINGS/COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIPS 
The Part 145 Responsible Manager will be involved with the below meetings.

38 Hours a week with flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
