Position Overview Employment Term: Permanent part-time (0.3 - 0.8FTE) Location: In-office, Brisbane City QLD. Close to public transport. Remuneration: SCHADS 4 ($43.51 - $46.81 p/hr.) + 11.5% super + shift loading- where applicable. Commencement: 18/11/2024, 25/11/2024, 09/12/2024. Onboarding training: Week 1 & 2 MON-FRI 9 am-5 pm.As a VictimConnect- Response & Connection Practitioner, you will assist victims/survivors of interpersonal violent crime by providing phone-based crisis counselling, information, guidance, warm referrals and offering/scheduling short-term counselling with our in-house Specialist Counsellors. As part of our commitment to client safety, you will conduct accurate risk assessments and carefully develop safety plans. To ensure callers receive seamless, individualised support, you will work collaboratively and maintain, positive working relationships with government and non-government services such as Queensland Police, Victims Assist Queensland and 54 Reasons.
What you will bring: Completed Bachelor of Behavioural Science, Social Work, Human Services, or other relevant fields acceptable by DVConnect. Two (2) or more years of professional experience in the social and community services sector. Including working with vulnerable communities or individuals impacted by violence from a trauma-informed, person-centered practice framework. Successfully manage competing tasks within agreed timeframes, including planning, implementation, and coordination of practical support or case management. Navigate sensitive situations, calmly and professionally. Confident and effective communication. Knowledge and understanding (or willingness to acquire) about the Queensland Domestic Violence Legislation and the Queensland criminal justice legislation. Build, maintain, and enhance relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including both sector and non-sector partners. Cultural responsiveness and commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Highly competent IT and telephone skills. Paid Blue Card and a satisfactory National Police Check, or willingness to obtain before commencing employment.
