An exciting opportunity exists for a Respiratory Technician/Scientist to join the team at a well-established multi-site lung function laboratory. You will be responsible for obtaining meaningful test results from patients who have a variety of lung conditions.
The successful candidate will perform tests that include Spirometry, Full pulmonary function, Bronchial provocation challenge using Mannitol, as well as Feno, HAST and Six minute walk tests. Clinical experience in this area is preferable but not essential. Candidates with good communication and people skills are highly encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate skills to communicate effectively with professional colleagues of all levels. You may be required to travel to other nearby sites to cover leave requirements.
Key Responsibilities Performing comprehensive lung function testing including: spirometry (including postural), diffusion capacity, Feno, bronchial provocation testing, six-minute walk tests and MIPs and MEPs. Ensuring all respiratory function tests meet appropriate standards. Establishing rapport and compassionately guiding patients to achieve accurate and reliable results. Working with clinical staff including the respiratory scientist team, practice staff and the administrative team to ensure delivery of best practice patient care and to contribute to a positive work environment. Utilising exceptional communication, time management and multitasking skills to prioritise and embrace a flexible approach in task management. Performing administrative tasks associated with the practice activities including taking payments, uploading referrals and reports. Minimum Requirements Minimum 1 year respiratory / nursing or clinical diagnostics experience. Strong background in people / patient skills. An empathetic and personable demeanour. A strong commitment to high quality care. Ability to independently troubleshoot technical software and hardware problems. High level of initiative, drive and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Willingness to travel to other locations. Undergraduate degree in science, nursing or a related field a minimum. Previous experience in the measurement of lung function is an advantage and highly desirable. Knowledge of medical practice management software (eg Gentu). #J-18808-Ljbffr
