Join a large team of youth workers at Foyer Oxford, Youth Housing Service0.8 FTE with regular hours working overnights, weekends and late afternoon shiftCentral Leederville location; $37 per hour plus penalties and superJob DescriptionReach further with us! The Residential Youth Worker role supports young people living at Foyer Oxford, which includes providing emotional, practical and crisis support on a daily basis.
Understanding ability, recognising qualities, promoting achievements and inspiring what is possible, you will build relationships with young people, run activities and facilitate opportunities for learning and development of independent living skills.
You will provide practical support and advocacy to young people and implement individualised safety and well-being strategies in line with existing case management plans.
This is a 0.8 FTE permanent role working a 3 week roster pattern of:
Week One Saturday 7:45pm - 8:45amSunday 7:45pm - 8:15amWeek Two Thursday 7:45pm - 8:15amFriday 7:45pm - 8:45amWeek Three Monday 7:45pm - 8:15amTuesday 7:45pm - 8:15amSaturday 3:30pm - 8:00pmSunday 12:30pm - 8:00pmAttendance at two team meetings a month held on a Wednesday is also required.
Desired Skills and ExperienceWhat you will bring To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
Certificate IV in Youth Work or equivalent skills and experienceUp to date knowledge of youth work code of ethicsAbility to communicate, engage and build strong relationships with and motivate 'at risk' young peopleAbility to work independently and appropriately respond to crises as necessaryAbility to accept, respect and work with young people:from a broad range of backgrounds and abilitiesfrom different cultures, particularly with Aboriginal & CaLD young peoplewho may identify as LGBTIfrom all belief systemsDemonstrated behaviour management, conflict resolution, advocacy and negotiation skillsAbility to develop and run activities with young peopleThe successful candidate must also possess a current National Police Clearance valid within 12 months, a WA Working with Children Check and a current First Aid Certificate.
$37.34 per hour + relevant shift loadings + 11.5% superannuation
Overnight shifts are paid at 0.5 base rate; penalties apply to weekends, public holidays and late afternoon shifts.
