About the role The purpose of the Youth Residential Support Worker role is to provide a safe and caring environment, assisting the live-in Senior Residential Care Worker to support the young person to de-escalate and regulate their emotions when required, help to develop independent living skills, and help the young person re-engage in education and their community.
Candidates who have worked with disengaged young people who have experienced trauma and display challenging behaviours, as well as candidates with experience working with clients with mental health challenges, will be highly regarded.

Example of roster 3pm - 8pm - WEEKDAYS
9AM - 5PM - WEEKENDS
5PM - 10PM - WEEKENDS
If you are successful in moving through to the interview rounds, you will be invited to attend our next assessment centre which will be held on Thursday 28th of November from 9.30am until 3pm at our Leederville office. Responsibilities: Promote and assist young people to achieve goals identified in Individual Case PlansAssist young people to develop independence and build community networksSupport the young person's interestsEstablish a rapport and collaborate effectively with young people to achieve positive outcomesManage behavioural escalations and assist the young person to co-regulate emotionallyDomestic duties and supporting the young person to learn how to look after themselves eg cooking, housework, laundryCommunicate with the care team and report incidents promptly and accuratelyMedication administration (when required)Maintenance of progress notes and record keepingSkills & Experience Certificate in Youth Work, Mental Health, or relevant qualification (or willing to work towards qualifications)Experience working with young people who have experienced significant trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviours of concernAbility to demonstrate highly effective interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholdersDemonstrate confidentiality and have strong understanding of professional boundariesExperience working with young people from indigenous or other cultural backgrounds (advantageous)A current First Aid Certificate (must have prior to commencing employment)Desirable: Experience with behavioural management approaches including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), positive behaviour support, trauma and attachment, Sanctuary or CARE residential models (we have in-house training we will put you through)Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Department of Communities Check and Working with Children Check.
