Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service is looking for passionate and dedicated Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) to provide exceptional care across Emergency Care, Surgery, General Medicine, Paediatrics, and Anaesthetics.
You will be supervised by experienced Consultants and gain invaluable experience in a busy, multi-disciplinary environment.
Mount Gambier & District Health Service is the largest hospital in rural South Australia and has been identified as one of the four general hospitals to provide treatment for Country people closer to home.
We provide acute services ranging from in-hospital care by local general practitioners to specialist surgical, obstetric, paediatric and anaesthetic services delivered by medical consultants.
Located on the beautiful Limestone Coast, midway between Adelaide and Melbourne, Mount Gambier is the second most populous regional city in South Australia and offers a high level of services and facilities for both families and individuals.
Key Responsibilities: Provide inpatient care, assessments, and admitting services under Consultant supervision.
Document patient histories and physical exams thoroughly, identifying and escalating concerns as needed.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and discharge planning.
Engage in quality improvement activities and continuous professional development.
Supervision of medical students and interns as directed About You Must hold a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
Must have completed an Internship You will demonstrate competency in range of routine and common procedural ward-based skills Knowledge of contemporary medical practice and procedures appropriate to the level of the position, investigations and treatments appropriate to the level of the position, and knowledge of Work, Health & Safety principles and procedures Displaying a high degree of professional integrity, you will be adaptable to change and able to work in a multidisciplinary team environment as well as individually.
Ability to work under pressure without compromising patient care, and able to respond positively to change High level skills in negotiation and the ability to communicate confidently and appropriately with patients and their family/relatives and show genuine empathy for patients and their relatives/family.
Skills in problem solving and decision making at both the clinical and the individual level.
