Base salary will be in the range $78,871 - $105,004 + 17% Superannuation (Academic Level A)

About This Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work in the Centre for Digital Cultures and Societies as part of a national team developing the Australian Internet Observatory in collaboration with the NCRIS funded Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and other university partners.

Within this project, the successful applicant will independently lead research activities and contribute to collaborative work focused on improving the observability of digital platforms.
You will also be a highly motivated researcher excited to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional research team to develop and implement novel approaches for studying digital platforms.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work on the development of the citizen science program in the Australian Internet Observatory.
This key part of the observatory will facilitate the research practices, frameworks and infrastructure for diverse groups of Australians to donate data about their experience of digital and social media platforms.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.

Teaching: Contribute to a limited amount of coursework teaching, as appropriate.

Supervision and Researcher Development: Contribute to the effective supervision of research assistants, Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).

Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You
Completion or near completion of a PhD in Media Studies, Cultural Studies, Science and Technology Studies, Design, Sociology, Anthropology or another relevant discipline relating to the Centre of Digital Cultures and Societies' research programs and the Australian Internet Observatory.

Research interest and capability in the areas of: participatory digital methods; data donation and/or citizen science related to digital and social media platforms; and collection, organisation, analysis and/or visualisation of digital and social media data.

Demonstrable competence in cultural, social and/or digital research methods involving working with human participants.

Capability to manage the operations of a large, complex research project with multiple participants nationwide.

An emerging research track record of high-quality publications, and grant applications.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team, while maintaining an individual profile in a research area and contributing to the collegial life of the Centre for Digital Cultures & Societies within and beyond UQ.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to represent and promote the Centre (where appropriate) at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check.
