About the opportunity
There is currently one (1) permanent – full time position available for immediate filling. The Fisheries and Agriculture Resource Management directorate is seeking an experienced Research Scientist in Data, Modelling, and Analysis who is passionate about making a positive impact in the natural resource sector. In this role, you will work with field scientists to improve data collection, maintain and improve databases, information flows and analysis approaches to inform resource management decisions. Your work will contribute to sustainability and the economic development of the agri-food industry, with a focus on export-led growth and maintaining a sustainable and productive agricultural system.
Your expertise in advanced data analysis tools and methodologies will be essential for enhancing our research capabilities and ensuring sustainable management of our resources. Ideal candidates will have the following:
Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science, Science or an approved equivalent.Strong quantitative science and computing skills, specifically in the context of working with various types of natural resource data and cloud computing.Demonstrated ability to build custom tools and workflows to support data collection, storage, analysis, and presentation.Demonstrated experience with relational databases including Oracle and SQL Server.Geospatial programming and experience with various GIS platforms (ESRI suite, QGIS, Shiny tools, etc) would be highly regarded.API development skills would be highly regarded.For further information for this role please see the attached Job Description Forms (JDFs), which also outlines the core capabilities we will be looking for in an ideal candidate.

DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
