We are a trusted advisor, a partner and employer of choice, and we value integrity, innovation, and respect.
AIMS' research of Australia's tropical marine ecosystems guides its effective environmental management, and that of similar systems around the world. Our research seeks to deliver practical benefit to all Australians and support the sustainable use our tropical marine estate. Governments, reef managers, industry and the wider community look to our high-quality, long-term research for informed decisions about our iconic Great Barrier Reef, North-West Shelf and Arafura and Timor Seas.

Using your international scientific reputation and experience, you'll lead several important activities including the management of physical oceanographic observational programs across northern Australia, the development and application of numerical modelling tools relevant to Australia's tropical coastal and continental shelf systems, and research into estuarine, coastal and shelf-scale sediment transport processes. You'll provide scientific leadership to colleagues, support staff and students, and ensure that resources such as facilities, equipment and associated are coordinated and allocated effectively to address scientific and environmental management challenges.
