Australia's Cooperative Research Centre for Solving Antimicrobial Resistance in Agribusiness, Food, and Environments (SAAFE) was established in Adelaide in 2022. Dedicated to protecting the nation's food and agribusiness industries, SAAFE tackles AMR through a coordinated, cross-sectoral approach, uniting innovative industries with leading research organisations and government agencies.
Partnering with viticulture, aquaculture, horticulture, water, organic waste, stockfeed, and animal industries, SAAFE will invest over $150m into collaborative research by 2033 to support the development, sharing, and implementation of solutions through targeted projects.
Reporting to the Research Director and working closely with Research Program Leads, the newly created role of Research Program Manager will be responsible for:
managing the execution of SAAFE's research program and priorities; developing and implementing strategic research program initiatives; leading the translation and implementation of strategic priorities through practical outputs, including SAAFE's research and engagement strategy, proposal calls, annual reports and advisory documents; developing collaborative opportunities for prospective and current partner involvement in the research program; overseeing research review activities to ensure alignment of research activity to program priorities; supporting industry and government engagement processes; supporting the development of scientific content and translation of research outputs into partner communication assets. Applications are sought from PhD (or other HDR) qualified candidates, with demonstrated experience in research administration and commercial research program management gained within the higher education sector, or a relevant industry or government research environment. Discipline-specific expertise could include plant industries, agribusiness, animal industries, aquaculture, environmental science, or biotechnology. Highly developed stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, commercial acumen, and a genuine commitment to advancing the critical work of SAAFE CRC will be important.
