Why Your Role Matters: UNSW Kirby Institute seeks to appoint a research officer to work on an exciting national research study about health outcomes post-COVID-19 infection called the "Outcomes Post COVID - OUTPOST study" and alongside a Sydney and Melbourne-based team of clinicians/scientists.
This research is conducted under the auspice of the Australian Partnership for Preparedness Research on Infectious Disease Emergencies (APPRISE) Long COVID Initiative .
The aim of the APPRISE Long COVID Initiative OUTPOST prospective study is to define the point-prevalence of Long COVID at 12-weeks post SARS CoV-2 infection versus comparison infective (Influenza A/B or RSV A/B) and non-infective controls using an operationalised research case definition for post-viral syndromes.
While the study has a national scope, this position is physically based at the Kirby Institute and will require travel to the NSW sites of recruitment.
The research officer will report to the study team about the progress of the recruitment and assist in the overall study day-to-day coordination, study meetings and their preparation, as well as other administrative duties as required, including maintaining an online database.
This position is within the Viral Immunology Systems Program and reports to Professor Andrew Lloyd and Associate Professor Lucette Cysique.
Skills and Experience: An undergraduate degree in a related discipline (E.g.
Science, Medicine) and relevant research work experience.
Proven commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct research activities with limited supervision.
Demonstrated high level of computing skills including competency with relevant word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics programs, as well as internet, email and social media platforms.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.
Relevant experience in primary care or clinical research including demonstrated knowledge of Good Clinical Practice.
An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
