About the role: We are looking for a highly motivated person to join the Ion Channels and Human Diseases lab at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health.
This role will sit within a program for the development and commercialization of novel therapeutics for severe childhood epilepsies.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic group of scientists to work on behavioral and electrophysiology measurements in mouse models created to mimic childhood epilepsies, and to screen and validate novel molecules in these models to drive discovery research programs into early clinical development.
The candidate will be responsible for: Conduct experiments independently and in a team environment Provide laboratory-based support for experiments and related work as required Data analysis and preparation of reports (oral/written) to direct supervisors Experiments mainly focus on stereotaxic brain surgery in mice, drug delivery into mice via oral (p.o.
), s.c, i.p or i.c.v.
routes, running of video-EEG and behavioural experiments, brain tissue and blood collection.
Molecular biology experiments including occasional genotyping, qPCR, protein extraction Identify hazards and unsafe activities and report immediately Adhere to all Florey Standard Terms and Conditions on Confidentiality, Publications and Intellectual Property Detailed information and key responsibilities are available from the Position Description.
This position is fixed term, full-time role.
The role attracts an annual salary offer ranging from Research Officer 1 (RO1) $91,681 to Research Officer 3 (RO3) $98,416 or Research Assistant 4 (RA4) $84,947 to Research Assistant 5 (RA5) $88,314 , commensurate with experience.
