Full time, fixed term until 30 June 2025 Opportunity to lead research projects and optimise grant management processes in the School of Economics HEO 6 Base Salary $99,455 - $107,216 + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Economics at the University of Sydney is one of the primary centres for economics in Australia and the broader Asia-Pacific region. School academic staff have varied specialisms and areas of expertise, including economic theory, policy and econometrics.
The Research Officer leads research projects and optimises grant management processes. They drive the adoption of innovative research methodologies and oversee the comprehensive management of data. They also nurture partnerships, manage research documentation, and ensure impactful dissemination of research outcomes.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
lead and optimise research projects, ensuring methodologies are refined and research goals are met. oversee the lifecycle of grant applications, from conceptualisation to final reporting. provide advice on research direction, updating the team on the latest research methodologies and compliance requirements. coordinate data management processes, ensuring thorough analysis and reporting that drives research insights. streamline administrative processes including management of research documentation, publications, and compliance paperwork and timely report submission. take the lead in handling stakeholder communications, ensuring that concerns are addressed effectively and timely while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration. coordinate purchasing processes and resolve any discrepancies in payment schedules. champion a proactive approach to health and safety. About you Bachelor Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience, and experience working in the higher education sector. demonstrated experience working in a research-intensive environment, with experience in research software, data analysis, conducting scientific literary searches, managing, reporting and disseminating research data. experience coordinating and managing the grant application process. experience in people management, including managing staff performance and development.
