About the role
Reporting to the Lead Analyst, Budget Estimates and Outcomes, you will have a key role in the annual inquiries into the budget estimates and financial and performance outcomes including preparation of briefing papers and report writing.
A key focus of the position is to examine outcomes achieved for the community in relation to government spending and more broadly protecting the public interest.
This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with sound experience undertaking detailed analysis of government programs and performance, and monitoring compliance with relevant legislation and reporting mechanisms.
About you
You will be adept at presenting complex performance and financial information in a manner that the public can easily understand.
Your communication and interpersonal skills will be a strength, as is your capacity to be flexible and respond well to change.
You will be tertiary qualified and have demonstrated experience applying public policy and/or economic principles and tools to the analysis of a wide range of issues and data.
You will also have proven experience in the preparation of high-quality written analysis on complex issues for non-technical audiences.
A key strength will be your knowledge and understanding of major developments in the economy, Victorian government priorities and Victoria's frameworks for funding service and infrastructure delivery.
A deep understanding of relevant legislative and reporting mechanisms, including policies and practices affecting the Victorian Budget will be regarded highly.
