Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and non-research staff.
About The Global Health & Tropical Medicine Group: The Global Health & Tropical Medicine Group investigates the transmission and control of tropical infectious diseases and diseases of poverty, including some of the most prevalent and important infections that cause much suffering and economic loss worldwide. We aim to develop new public health interventions against these diseases that will lead to their sustainable control and eventual elimination.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:  Applications are invited for skilled researchers to work on projects related to Global Health & Tropical Medicine, including the epidemiology/spatial epidemiology and control/elimination of Neglected Tropical Diseases and Tuberculosis.
You will;
Present research at academic seminars and at national and international conferences, and collaborate with other researchers at a national & international level. This includes working as part of a team on externally funded projects subject to deadlines. Publish original and innovative results in refereed journals Assist to supervise research support staff in your research area and contribute to student supervision, as needed Collaborate with senior staff to actively seek and secure external funding, assist to prepare and submit research proposals to external funding bodies as appropriate Assist in outreach activities including to prospective students, research institutes, industry, government, the media and the general public About You: You are required to have;
PhD (or submitted for examination) in epidemiology, public health, or a related field Experience in tropical infectious disease research Experience in spatial epidemiology Data analysis skills and experience working with health data Demonstrated ability to use and interpret outputs from software packages such as Stata, R or SAS Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written work Outstanding oral and written communication and intrapersonal skills with the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team Demonstrated ability to prioritise activities and meet deadlines in an ever-evolving environment Please refer to the Position Description for a more detailed description of the role, responsibilities and selection criteria.
Remuneration: Salary range is $92,403 to $99,142 p.a. plus super and generous salary packaging. This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2.5 years.
