Headquartered in Adelaide, WaterRA boasts a diverse membership across Australia, with additional staff located in Melbourne, Northern NSW, and Perth. An exciting new opportunity has emerged for an enthusiastic Research Manager to join our dynamic Research Services Team. Based ideally in Sydney or Adelaide, this role offers a unique opportunity to utilise your collaboration and scientific skills in a multifaceted position. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing research, innovation, and capability development projects for the water industry. While the position allows for co-location within one of our member organisations for certain days of the week, it also demands a high level of independent work, including remote work from home. In addition to project management, the role includes responsibility for project data management, ensuring accurate and efficient handling of research data throughout the project lifecycle. Working closely with our team, you will also play an important role in assisting our members in maximising the value derived from their research investments. To excel in this role, you must possess strong project management skills, a collaborative work ethic, and effective communication abilities. A passion for building relationships and understanding the unique needs of our stakeholders is essential. With a member-centric mindset, you will thrive under pressure, delivering impactful research solutions that drive value for our members and contribute to the growth of WaterRA. Responsibilities: Lead project management efforts for the collaborative development, enhancement, and application of research, including facilitating knowledge translation, adoption, and benefits measurement; Establish and maintain productive and respectful relationships with key stakeholders, including water utilities, research institutions, and industry organisations; Contribute to the development and delivery of products and services that enable collaborative research and build capability among WaterRA's members; and, Actively support corporate business development initiatives and contribute to ongoing improvements. What we're looking for: Tertiary qualifications in social science, science, engineering, or a related field (preferably with a post-graduate research-based qualification); Knowledge of relevant areas such as water and wastewater treatment processes and technologies, microbiology, and circular management of emissions to air, land, and water; Experience in project management within an R&D or technical environment; Previous involvement in a water utility, research organisation, or related public health or consulting role;  Strong skills in science communication and translating technical information into actionable knowledge; and, A collaborative team player driven by curiosity, commitment to customer service, and a dedication to advancing healthy communities and a sustainable planet. Additionally, the ideal candidate will demonstrate: Proven ability to work autonomously and flexibly across multiple technical domains; A track record of establishing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships; Proactive and positive attitude, with a member-focused approach and excellent listening skills; Innovation and creativity in problem-solving; Confidence and articulateness in presenting at events and facilitating workshops; and, Willingness to travel interstate as needed.
