What you'll be doing

The Research Grants and Development Officer position will identify, promote, manage, and support research grant/funding opportunities available to the SCHN research community. The position will be a key resource for researchers across all SCHN sites and services. They will identify external grant/funding opportunities and develop internal grant/funding opportunities (e.g. fellowships and small grants). They will review and enhance grant applications, ensure funding scheme conditions and guidelines are followed, and provide any applicable executive support prior to submission. The position will develop and monitor internal/external grant application submissions and grant outcome notifications. Grant successes, publications and presentations will also be captured. The Research Grants and Development Officer position will be tasked with leading and managing the SCHN grants portfolio and will be required to work confidently and independently with the support of the Research Office. NSW Health websites, databases and platforms will be utilized to manage these grants efficiently and effectively. The Research Grants and Development Officer position will support the Research Development Manager in creating a research-rich culture within SCHN. The position will, therefore, also be required to help communicate research-related materials, support the development and implementation of research capability and capacity-building schemes, facilitate research education and events, manage research data systems, and engage with SCHN research partners when required. They will be required to work across both the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, and The Children's Hospital at Westmead.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, science, or business, and/or significant experience in providing high-level executive administrative and management support, and/or equivalent work experience in a clinical research or healthcare delivery environment. Strong leadership and project management experience, and a demonstrated ability to deliver on projects with desired outcomes and within defined timeframes. Proven high level of organizational skills including the ability to problem solve, prioritize workload and meet deadlines with the capacity to exercise initiative and judgment. Experience in financial management including accounts payable and receivable, maintaining financial records and reporting from financial systems including Oracle Proven capacity to operate effectively in a complex environment demanding confidentiality, flexibility, and discernment. Demonstrated ability to work independently and while collaborating with colleagues from across multidisciplinary teams, departments, and services. Demonstrated strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and advanced proficiency in business writing, development of presentations, reports, and executive correspondence. High level competence with electronic records management systems such as TRIM, research databases such as REDCap, and/or desktop software such as Microsoft Office and Teams.
