The School of BioSciences at the University of Melbourne is seeking a Research Fellow to contribute to an ARC-funded project on 'Predicting how Australia's pests will respond to climate change'.

This role involves dynamic energy budget modelling of plants and microclimates using the Julia programming language, working closely with Professor Michael Kearney and a team of researchers and postgraduate students.

You will have the opportunity to develop your own research program, collaborate with academic, industry, and government partners, and contribute to the School's teaching.

Your responsibilities will include:

Contribute towards the research effort of the team and to develop your research expertise with an increasing degree of autonomy. Under the guidance and support of Senior Academic staff conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high impact journals. Contribute to and publish academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high academic standard in accordance with the research expectations of the University of Melbourne. Actively participate in research seminars and conferences to disseminate research findings as opportunities arise. Who We Are Looking For
You will have a proven research track record with relevant publications, and excellent organisational skills to meet deadlines. You will also demonstrate the ability to independently manage and complete research projects with minimal supervision.

You will also have:

Completion (or near completion) of a PhD in ecology or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in dynamical systems modelling of energy and mass budgets, especially in plants but also animals. Demonstrated skills in the Julia programming language. Demonstrated ability to prepare research reports and manuscripts for publication.
