Base Salary : ranging from $122,830- $145,858 + 17% superannuation.
About the opportunityAn opportunity has arisen for a research only position in health economics at the Menzies Centre for Health Policy and Economics within the School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine and Health.
The Centre is the leading independent voice on health policy in Australia, focusing on improving public health outcomes through policy innovation and practical implementation. With a program of community engagement, the Centre encourages informed debate about how Australians can influence health policy to ensure that it is consistent with their values and priorities; policies that are able to deliver safe, high-quality health care that is sustainable in the long term.
The University is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow (Level B) to contribute to the health economics research program, and join a growing team of health economics researchers, working in economic evaluation, economic modelling, discrete choice/stakeholder preference analysis, and quality of life/wellbeing research across a range of different contexts. The incumbent will be based in the Moore College Building located on the Camperdown campus.
This is a fixed term position for 1 year initially. Although full-time appointments are preferred, we would consider fractional appointments for the right candidate.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
Make a significant contribution to the research and administrative endeavours of the Centre and the School. Participate in multi-disciplinary health economics and health policy research, focusing on collecting and analysing health system data for use in economic evaluations and preference elicitation. Build a reputation towards becoming an authority in the discipline of health economics and health policy.
About youA PhD (awarded or submitted) in health economics, health services research, or related discipline.
Demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications in health economics or a related area.
Experience in contributing to a multidisciplinary research team in a health economics/health services research/biostatistics related topic.
Demonstrated experience in health economic methodologies such as microcosting, economic evaluation, economic modelling, conducting discrete choice experiments to elicit stakeholder preferences or quality of life research.
Experience with data linkage projects to evaluate healthcare resource use and costs.
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary academic environment, and independently as required, and preparedness to contribute more broadly to research programmes within the Centre and School.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
DesirableSuccess in being awarded an NHMRC personal support grant (or equivalent) and/or other Category 1-4 research grant as a Chief Investigator or Associate Investigator.
Experience with postgraduate research student supervision.
