Offer DescriptionFull time, fixed term contract for 3 years with possible extensionAn exciting opportunity in a newly created research role within the team focused on wearables and health within the Charles Perkins Centre and the Faculty of Medicine and HealthBase Salary starting from $118,390 + 17% superannuationThe University of Sydney, Charles Perkins Centre - The University is seeking to employ a Research Fellow to support the multi-disciplinary research team in the Charles Perkins Centre's Theme of Physical Activity.
The incumbent will lead a program of incidental physical activity in socioeconomically diverse populations, as well as aspects of the ProPASS consortium health improvement in the Exercise and Energy Expenditure Theme, led by Professor Emmanuel Stamatakis.
The position is located at Charles Perkins Centre, a leading multidisciplinary research institute of the University of Sydney.
Your key responsibilities will be to: Lead physical activity interventions, including ethics approvals, recruitment, data collection, analyses and manuscript preparationLead co-design and community involvement workProvide leadership to the Prospective Physical Activity, Sitting, and Sleep consortium (ProPASS)Provide leadership of epidemiological publications on physical activity, sleep, and other behaviorsProvide regular contributions to physical activity measurement related studies included in the above program of research.Significantly contribute to successful applications for competitive research grants and/or funding to deliver research impactWork under the supervision of academic staffTypically conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision, either independently, or as a member of a teamUndertake administration primarily relating to staff member's activities at the UniversityMaintain quality, standards and excellence in all research activities and outputsWork out-of-office hours, as the needs of the multiple international collaboration the above program entails dictates.About you: PHD in relevant fieldExperience with intervention design, co-design and evaluation, particularly within physical activity or health behaviour change settingsStrong expertise in qualitative research methods, including conducting interviews and thematic analysisExperience working with diverse socioeconomic groups and/or research addressing health inequalitiesFamiliarity with ProPASS or similar international consortiaBackground in behavioral interventions related to physical activity, sedentary behavior, or sleepSolid understanding of epidemiological methods and study designs (e.g., cohort studies, prospective studies)Expertise in physical activity, sedentary behavior, and/or sleep research and their associations with health outcomesExperience with biostatistics and working with large population-based datasetsStrong track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fieldsExperience in writing research grants and preparing reports for stakeholders or funding agencies.Applications: Applications (including a cover letter, CV, and any additional supporting documentation) can be submitted via the Apply button at the top of the page.
