We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow - in Development Biology and Human Genetics to support Professor Mathias Francois and his research team.
The primary function as biophysicist will be to develop and implement new solutions to push the boundary of the current analytical methods with a focus on gene regulation processes.
The role will also support the Genome Imaging Center assisting users in the areas of imaging data acquisition and analysis.

Your key responsibilities will be to:
work under broad direction of Prof Francois and in tight collaboration with a computational biologist within the Center.
The research officer is expected to utilise their training, technical expertise and scientific knowledge to resolve routine matters relevant to their key accountabilities as well as to develop their own research program.
exercise a high level diagnostic skills on single molecule localisation microscopy (SMLM) to suggest approaches to problem solving before consulting with the supervisor and identified experts in the field in order to assess the need around a particular analytical approach.
They will have discretion to design new solutions that meet the requirements of the work being undertaken within the center.
conceptualise, design and implement analytical methods applied to quantitative molecular imaging (coding, statistics, visualisation).
assist trainees in the center to use and analyse datasets.
where appropriate train staff or external users ensuring their work is coordinated, planned and completed.
actively contribute to the collaboration with external bodies to coordinate data repository.
write or contribute to manuscripts, reports and grant submissions.
participate in lab and group meetings that are held on a regular basis.
ensure Laboratory workbooks are maintained in accordance with Standard Operating Procedure.
develop Standard Operating Procedures, Protocol and simple computational-level.
About you
PhD Biophysics Expertise with high and super resolution microscopy (dStorm, TIRF) Experienced with optical tweezers manipulation Experienced with microfluidics Scientific background in single molecule science Be familiar with gene regulation or genome biology Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Computer literate in standard research software, proficient with coding (Python, R, MatLab) Preferred experience with cell culture Good numeracy and literacy skills, including demonstrated ability to collate and manipulate statistical data for input into reports, manuscripts and grant submissions Highly developed interpersonal skills with the proven ability to converse with and gain co-operation from diverse groups (students, staff, Non English-Speaking Backgrounds) Very organised with the ability to work in a complex and demanding environment and make decisions under pressure whilst meeting critical deadlines Ability to think innovatively and successfully implement new ideas Ability to assist in the supervision of students Excellent written and oral communication skills Good judgement with an ability to balance the needs of all stakeholders Ability to comply with standard work instructions and procedures Demonstrated commitment to EEO & WHS, by example.
