: 671139Location: The Alfred CentreEmployment Type: Full-timeDuration: 12-month fixed-term appointmentThe OpportunityWe are seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Cancer and Host Dynamics Group (CHDG) at Monash University's School of Translational Medicine.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to ground-breaking work in molecular and immuno-oncology, with a focus on skin and thoracic cancers.In this role, you will:Conduct cutting-edge research on cancer cell interactions within the tumour microenvironment and host systemsUtilise genomic and molecular biology techniques, in vitro cell culture, ex vivo tumour fragment models, and animal models of cancerWork collaboratively in PC2 laboratory spaces, ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocolsContribute to the laboratory's translational research efforts in immuno-oncology and cancer biologyTake part in laboratory maintenance, supervise junior staff and students, and support research team activitiesPursue independent research projects and apply for fellowships to secure future funding, guided by the Group LeaderKey Responsibilities:Design and execute experiments using advanced laboratory techniques, including multicolour flow cytometry panels for immunologic analysisAnalyse and interpret genomic and functional assay dataPrepare and publish high-impact research papers and present findings at conferencesSupport research team goals through effective collaboration and mentorshipEngage in limited teaching and administrative tasks related to research projectsManage research projects within budget and contribute to maintaining a dynamic, innovative lab environmentTo thrive in this position, you will have:A PhD in molecular biology, immunology, oncology, or a related fieldA strong track record of refereed publications and research contributionsProficiency in cell and molecular biology techniques, with experience in flow cytometry.
Experience with cellular immunological assays is highly regardedAnalytical skills, organizational abilities, and a collaborative mindsetKnowledge of statistical programming in R and a strong understanding of immunological pathways relevant to cancer immunotherapyExperience with mouse handling and a demonstrated ability to perform innovative research in a wet lab settingThis is your opportunity to work in a vibrant research environment, making significant contributions to the understanding and treatment of cancer.
