Job Description:

(Level A) $98,574 - $105,611 or (Level B) $111,031 – $131,335 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.
A full-time, fixed term position available for 18 months.

About the Project:
Join an innovative project funded through the HILT CRC, focusing on transforming and decarbonising the Australian heavy industry, particularly cement/lime, alumina, and iron/steel sectors. The HILT RP2.13 Project seeks to evaluate the use of mineral carbonation as an alternative carbon capture utilisation storage technology (CCUS). The project aims to de-risk high TRL technologies for retrofitting existing processes, enabling significant emissions reductions and valuable by-products recovery, while also advancing the development of novel MC-CCUS technologies for next-generation, net-zero industry, targeting industry waste/tailings as feedstock to drive the CCUS process.
Key areas of focus include:
Developing process modeling for heavy-industry specific evaluations of emission mitigation strategies and promoting circular economy
Exploring carbon capture utilisation storage technologies and pathways to decarbonise and transform Australian heavy industry sector
Designing and evaluation of novel mineral carbonation technologies tailored for different industry waste/tailings

To be successful you will need:
Level A:
A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Experience in modeling and conducting economic analyses of mineral processing and/or thermo-chemical processes.
Experience and demonstrated competence in process and system simulation, as well as in developing mathematical models for physical systems.
Strong technical writing skills for high quality scientific journals, as well as verbal communication skills suited to academia settings.

Level B:
A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated experience in modeling and conducting economic analyses of mineral processing and/or thermo-chemical processes.
Experience and demonstrated competence in process and system simulation, as well as in developing mathematical models for physical systems.
Proven skills in technical writing skills for high quality scientific journals, as well as verbal communication skills suited to academia settings.
