This includes providing access to the AIATSIS Collection and support clients undertaking Family History research, marketing, communication, content production, event management services, and publishing.About the Program AreaThe Return of Cultural Heritage (RoCH) program sits within the Partnership and Engagement Group. In close cooperation with communities, AIATSIS is leading the RoCH program to return Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage material held overseas to Australia.Role SummaryWe are seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic Research Data Coordinator to join the RoCH team. The Research Data Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing the Return of Cultural Heritage research database and data management for multiple ongoing research projects.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase curationDevelop the database in collaboration with AIATSIS ITInitiating processes for regular updates and quality controlsImporting, merging, and reconciling data from various internal and external sourcesAutomating processing using macrosResolving data discrepanciesProducing and reviewing data reportsDeveloping data queriesEstablishing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures for a variety of data-related activitiesLiaising with external researchers and other stakeholders to manage research project data and create input processesProviding advice to researchers for data cleaning and database use and documentationEnsuring data practices comply with privacy regulation, ethical requirementsAdministrative tasks, collection research and other duties as required.Cultural Capability - EssentialRoles at AIATSIS require candidates to have an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and proven culturally appropriate engagement and communications skills.Skills, Knowledge and Personal AttributesA high level of cultural competency including experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and collectionsExperience in cultural collections data/database management practices within a collections and cultural heritage backgroundDemonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander practices surrounding cultural heritageDemonstrated experience working with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel and OutlookDemonstrated experience using the Drupal open-source content management systemProficiency in creating and maintaining records and working with cataloguingDemonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with external and internal stakeholdersStrong time management and organisational skills including managing priorities and working to deadlines with excellent attention to detail.Minimum QualificationsTertiary qualifications in Indigenous studies, fine arts, cultural heritage, museum, or curatorial studies or a related field are highly desirable.
