About the area The School of Earth Sciences at The University of Western Australia undertakes diverse fundamental and applied research with recognised strengths in mineral geoscience, petroleum geoscience, geochemistry, hydrogeology and marine geoscience. About the opportunity You will document in detail the successive stages of gold introduction associated with the various quartz vein types and the paragenetic sequence, in a spatial context, and assess their collective role leading to an understanding of the location of high grade gold mineralisation at the Pogo gold deposit (Alaska). About you To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate: PhD qualification in geosciences Experience and proven track record in conducting field based structural geology investigation Experience with conducting high end micro- and or nano in-situ analytical techniques applied to mineralogical, geochronological and/or structural investigation Scientific achievement with a record of publications commensurate with the years in the academic environment Experience in working in a team environment involving academic, government and/or industry research partners Note: Significant overseas travel will be required by the successful applicant.
