Centre for Transformative Media Technologies Part-time (0.8), fixed term position (until April 2026) at our Hawthorn campus Academic Level A salary + 17% Super and flexible working arrangements About the Role  We are seeking a dedicated Research Associate to join our Centre for Transformative Media Technologies to work across two interrelated Australian Research Council history and heritage preservation projects centring on Indigenous vernacular photography.
In this role, you will assist lead investigator/s with publishing journal articles, book chapters and other publications, working in liaison with Indigenous community and museum partners, completing projects and supporting administrative aspects of research leader roles.
As the Research Associate, you will be expected to undertake independent scholarly activity and apply for research funding commensurate with opportunity and expertise.
*This position is required to undertake limited periods of fieldwork in regional South Australia which will require a valid Driver's Licence and the ability to travel and work at a range of locations.
About You   To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:  Demonstrate experience in supporting research activities collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Demonstrate understanding of research in the university context with ability to use a variety of research methods, including skills in archival research and oral history research methods.
Demonstrate a research publication track record commensurate with experience and a track record of contribution to grant project application and/or delivery.
Demonstrate well-grounded, substantial experience in working collaboratively with Australian Indigenous peoples and communities.
Demonstrate high level communication and skills and consulting experience including established links with relevant industries and organisations.
Ability or potential to attract research funding from sources external to the university or to contribute to funded research projects and high-quality scholarship within the areas of Indigenous studies, visual anthropology, history or other discipline relevant to preserving Indigenous cultural heritage and contributing to Indigenous truth telling is preferred.
Qualifications An earned doctoral qualification relevant to the projects such as in Australian History, Indigenous studies, Anthropology, Museology, or other relevant social science disciplines.
