Research Associate (ARAS) / Research Fellow (BRF) University of South Australia – Mawson Lakes SA The Research Associate or Fellow will contribute to and conduct research inspired by real-world challenges for a number of academic and industry-focused research projects, in particular on the project titled "Autonomously expanding biomaterials for engineering growing tissues" funded via an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship. Core Responsibilities Level ARAS Undertake research under limited supervision to achieve project grant outcomes; i.e. synthesis and engineering of polymer biomaterials Design and perform a range of experiments Prepare or contribute to the preparation of refereed journal publications, conference and seminar papers Undertake administrative duties associated with relevant research projects, as required Level BRF Conduct high-quality research projects independently or under limited supervision, in collaboration with stakeholders Design, perform and record experimental work Communicate research outcomes in both verbal and written form including presentations and reports to the research team Ensure delivery of project's research milestones, objectives and work programs are met on time, within budget and to the industry partner's satisfaction Develop a record of independent research that results in high-quality publications Make significant contributions to refereed journal publications, conference and seminar papers arising from the research Essential Skills and Experience Level ARAS A postgraduate qualification in an appropriate Science or Engineering area relevant to the research area, or at least 2 years experience working as a researcher. Evidence of high-quality research output commensurate with the length of research career, which is published and presented in appropriate forums Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrated through written work such as research reports, research publications, and educational materials, and through effective liaison with external partners, colleagues, and students Ability to plan and execute testing and research with stakeholders Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a research team Level BRF Demonstrated research productivity as a postdoctoral researcher, with experience relevant to at least one research strand Evidence of participation in external activities such as industry or community engagement relevant to the field of research Record of independent research resulting in high-quality publications and evidence of growing citation impact Growing profile in research supervision and leadership Ability to maintain strong links with relevant industry, business, and community bodies Culture At the University of South Australia, we value workplace diversity and are committed to providing a supportive, inclusive, and respectful work environment for all people.
