About the Role This research scientist position, based at the Mercy Hospital for Women within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, focuses on therapeutic discovery and vascular function research in obstetric diseases.
The role supports innovative studies aimed at developing new treatments and diagnostics for pregnancy complications, such as preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction.
The candidate will contribute to laboratory experiments, animal models, molecular techniques, and collaborative research, while also engaging in training and administrative duties to support the research team's objectives.
Your responsibilities will include: Conduct experiments using animal models of pregnancy, perform molecular techniques, analyse data, and manage tissue preparation and staining, while ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with safety protocols.
Coordinate research projects, develop experimental protocols, contribute to publications and grant applications, and support the training of new staff and students in laboratory practices.
Promote University values, participate in community and professional activities, and uphold high standards of ethics, integrity, and safety.
Who We Are Looking For You will have strong research experience in human biology and extensive experience working with small rodent models, demonstrating a high level of motivation and the capacity to work flexibly across multiple tasks.
You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration, a commitment to producing high-quality research, and strong organisational abilities to manage concurrent tasks accurately and efficiently.
You will also have: Bachelor's degree (Honours or Masters) in a relevant area of medical or biological science.
A minimum of 2 years' experience and sound knowledge of human biology.
Extensive experience with small rodent models.
Experience in the standard techniques of molecular and cell biology.
